"We would do well to slow down a little, focus on the significant, lift up our eyes and truly see the things that matter most.
Strength comes not from frantic activity, but from being settled on a firm foundation of truth and light.
It comes from paying attention to the divine things that matter most." Elder Uchtdorf

Snow... in October?!? Revised

These are the pictures from when I picked Gideon up from Preschool (the others were from when I dropped him off). This is out one of our back windows.
Everybody said that it only snowed a couple of times last year, so I really wasn't expecting this so soon!

Snow... in October?!?

I thought that only happened in Idaho... and occasionally Utah!
It's a very wet snow, but snow nonetheless. When I took Gideon to preschool we were soaked by the time we got into the school. The World Series game was suspended last night (it's really only raining in Philly, but cold!)... crazy!

These are the bushes in front of our house I keep meaning to take pictures of... no time like the present! Aren't they beautiful?Here is Gideon in his little preschool program/parade... they made it a Hallelujah party and talked about all God's creations instead of Halloween.
Of course Woody is a beautiful creation (My Woody is anyway)!

We have a belt buckle and kerchief we left at home... we'll post better pictures later!

Identical Twins

When Gideon was born, my sister Deana gave me this outfit...

Three years later when Joseph was born, my sister Deanna gave me this outfit...
Different brands and everything.

Did I mention they are identical twins? I'm just saying...

Catching up... October

Random October

When he was supposed to be settling down for bed, Gideon fell and got a bloody nose... he insisted on having a band-aid to make it feel better, which it promptly did.
Okay, this kid has been fighting naps for a year now... can it get any more obvious how badly he needs them? It got quiet in his room (during "nap/rest" time) and I got worried so I went to check on him... yes, he's really asleep.
Joseph LOVES watching Gideon and you can just see how badly he wants to be running around and playing with him. I can't wait to see them play together!
Cars, wonderful Cars... he LOVES them! He plays with them like little girls play with dolls... they have voices and he's always pretending with them and acting out random little scenarios.

Catching up... September

Random September

The second time we went to pick apples, we took Levi... it was ever-so-much easier and TONS more fun!
And...

Gideon helped me make another pie-
And potty-trained himself (with a little encouragement and help from us...)

Bonded with Joseph
(Have I mentioned how much my boys love each other... and how much we love them?)
Classic Joseph...
Our little talker... this is a gem, because he would usually stop and stare at the camera when he saw it at this age- it took us forever to get good smiles and talking!

My life at 3:00 pm on Wednesday

Okay, Amy... you didn't officially challenge me, but I thought it would be fun to capture my life in a moment when I wasn't expecting it, so I did it.

And now, I'm challenging everyone who reads my blog-

The Clean O Meter Challenge
"Ladies, grab your cameras & take a photo of the following things AS IS. Don't clean or move anything, just snap a picture & let us all see how messy or clean you really are! :)"

p.s. It was really hard not to pick up just a couple of things here or there... I didn't (obviously). I didn't even spruce up myself. :)

The {SINK}

The {SINK} disclaimer (is this allowed?- it's from earlier today, after I did the dishes)

The {FRIDGE}

(note the whole wheat bread on the second shelf and the dough rising on the bottom shelf... it's one of my new things- pretty proud of myself, if you can't tell)

The {LAUNDRY ROOM}

The {BATHROOM}

The {CLOSET}

{FAVORITE SHOES}

I went to find my shoes and could only find one- then I remembered I had used one to dispose of a spider who has been cruisin the laundry area for a few days and nearly attacked/killed me today... no, really- there's nothing worse than a rabid spider, and I only did what any other rational person with a flip-flop and a clear shot would have done!

{Favorite Room} - where it all happens...

My {KIDS}
My little scholar fell asleep reading John Adams...

This is Gideon "sleeping." See the expression on his face when I opened the door, "Uh-Oh, got caught reaching into the toy box..."

{SELF PORTRAIT}

(now, if I only spent as much time on myself as I did on the wheat bread...)

This was a fun journaling experience, and I CHALLENGE all of you to grab your camera and do it... now.

Remember my little scholar? He woke up and can't reach his book, so I'm off!

About Levi

Where we met: Really, it was on the phone… we had seen each other at PCS where we worked, but we had never officially met until the receptionist gave him my phone number and he called to ask me out.

How long we dated before we got hitched: January to July… 6 mos.

How long we have been married: 5+ years

What's my favorite feature about him: I should say his eyes because I love them and this is a G-rated blog… but I really like his buns! (sorry, Mom)

What's my favorite quality about him: He has a truly pure heart… he is so meek and so willing to learn and change

What's his nickname for me: Buns and Dearheart

His fav color: Blue

His fav food: McDonald’s right now because he’s determined to win Monopoly!

His fav sport: I would have to say the X Games

Who said the L word first?: He did.

First kiss, when and where: February 2003 Mapleton, Utah.

Fav couple thing to do: We love bowling… we used to have a serious competition going and we would go every Saturday- now, it would be to watch TV because it’s a good excuse to sit down together… we usually just end up talking cause it’s the only time we see each other without kids or studying.

How many kids? 2

His hidden talent? He is an excellent artist… drawing. And he can memorize song lyrics almost instantly

His age: 29

His fav music: Alternative and serious Rock n Roll

What I admire most about him: He works SO hard at improving himself and taking care of his family. He’s truly amazing!

His fav pastimes: Running around with Gideon and trying to make Joseph laugh- he also loves video games.

Will he read this? Probably, eventually… cause he knows I’m doing it!

I tag everyone who reads my blog if you haven't already done this!

See the temple site

I forgot to mention that if you click on the "view larger" and then click on the "A," it will give you a street view. You can turn the little guy to the left and see the parking lot that I'm pretty sure is the site. Anyway...

Philadelphia Temple

Yay! A temple for Philadelphia... more to come, but there is a map of where it will be over in the right hand column (click on the little "view larger" at the bottom).

The "A" is the temple site (click on street view, and you can see the parking lot where it will be), and the "B" is Levi's school- less than a mile away! It will be a high rise, and host a number of wards as well as the temple. There isn't an existing building (like NYC), so they will be starting from the ground up. So exciting!

Such a huge blessing to have a temple close by, and such a wonderful spirit it will be for the church and missionaries here! I remember when they were building the temple in Uruguay during my mission... it was so exciting to visit the site and see the progress, and the ground-breaking is something I will never forget. Temples bring a special spirit to a place, and I like to believe that people on the other side of the veil will be helping a the missionaries a bit more earnestly so they can have their work completed. I know angels were there in Uruguay, because I felt them... no doubt about it!
