"We would do well to slow down a little, focus on the significant, lift up our eyes and truly see the things that matter most.
Strength comes not from frantic activity, but from being settled on a firm foundation of truth and light.
It comes from paying attention to the divine things that matter most." Elder Uchtdorf

Yurt Adventures

A couple of weeks ago, I went on an overnight yurt trip for PCS. It was the first time I have left Gideon overnight and it was hard for both of us. But, I love the yurt trips and I missed them terribly last year, so I couldn't resist the chance to go again. Last year was the first time since 2002 that I hadn't gone. Levi has always wanted to see it, and the weather and snow were perfect for a day trip up there. Usually we cross-country ski into the yurt pulling sleds. This year we took snow shoes, but we didn't even need those because the snow was so packed (but only if you stay on the trail, otherwise you sink up to your hips!)... so, the weekend after I went with work, we went as a family. Gideon did so well in the backpack and LOVED playing in the "no" (snow). We didn't stay overnight (but hope to do so in the future... so, if any of you are interested, let us know!). We posted about a million pictures of our little trip, so enjoy! We certainly did.

A Glimpse of the Future

Gideon has the best Daddy in the world! After their shower, Levi made sure to take Gideon to play on the toys at the park before Mommy got home! I'm just glad it wasn't blue liberty spikes like Levi has always wanted to do with his own hair- A little mohawk we can handle.
I loved it- Gideon looked super cute (He wasn't really sad about it, like he looks in the picture, I think he was just sick of Daddy following him around with the camera).

iPod Ad

Gideon loves music and he thought this was the coolest thing he had ever experienced- music right into his head! Let's just hope all the country mommy listens to has seeped a little deeper into his brain than the hard stuff daddy likes to sneak a listen to when he's alone with him in the car.
Don't forget to look at the pictures link!

Bathtime Fun

just stuff!

Hi Everyone,
I just thought I would try saying something on the blog since I haven't actually done that yet!
Things are going great. School is keeping us really busy- my class load isn't as busy as normal but I am also taking the Kaplan Prep course for the Dental Assesmant test, and I am a TA for a pre dent class at school (I teach the other students how to carve wax models of teeth). I am also trying to get ready for the process of applying to dental school which, when all is said and done, will have taken me more than a year. So that is what I do with most of my time... in my spare time I am a father and a husband which is pretty awesome. Christine is an amazing mother all of the time and she keeps me on track when I get a little short with Gideon. He is the sweetest kid in the world but has a good strong set of lungs, which he uses to try and get my attention sometimes. I guess, I just need to learn to listen to him better!
Things have been a little tiring lately because we have all been fighting off a cold for about two weeks. It is hard enough to keep up normally but when no one feels very good it is even harder! Last Friday night Gideon was fussing in bed a bit around 12pm and so we went in and checked on him and he puked all over the floor and went right back to sleep for the rest of the night. The next morning he woke up early, 6 am-ish ( I assume because he had such an empty stomach) and he ate a really big breakfast and I thought gosh I am glad he is feeling a little better than last night. After breakfast he was still really tired so I held him while he slept for another hour and a half before I finally thought I should take him up to bed, well I think his toddler sonar went off, warning him of impending danger, so he woke up and puked all over me, and it worked, he didn't have to go back to bed. He got a quick bath and then got to play till nap time. I guess I should count my blessings that I didn't feed him anything brightly colored. Sorry we didn't take any pictures of that to post on the blog.

Well I just want to post a deep thought before I go.
I bet a funny thing about driving a car off a cliff is, while you're in midair, you still hit those brakes. Hey, better try the emergency brake.

Bathtime Fun

Gideon loves his bath... almost as much as Daddy loves doing his hair during his bath- it works for everyone!

Gideon and I spent a little over a week babysitting my sister's (Deanna) kids while she and her husband were in Hawaii. It was fun- they are such good kids... an interesting experience going from 1 child to 7 overnight! Wow! I don't know how she does it. Levi came up on Friday of the second weekend, so at least I didn't have to get all 7 kids and myself to church alone again- whew! We are loving life and hope you are all happy and well- we love hearing from you!

Snow Day

Gideon LOVES going outside... so much that we have to drag him inside kicking and screaming (literally) no matter how much time we've spent freezing our tooshies off! He always heads straight for the snow, and usually the shade (much to his mother's chagrin). Today it was a balmy 16 degrees and he loved every minute of it. I'm just going to buy him some snow pants, bundle him up really good, and hope for the best!

Christmas Vacation

We had a wonderful Christmas vacation. It was SO nice having Levi home (with no homework or tests) for TWO WHOLE weeks! He works so hard, we're glad he was able to have a break. Christine worked at Gold's Gym in the daycare, but besides that we were home together most of the time. All of Christine's 6 siblings and 21 nieces and nephews were in town, so we spent a lot of time at Grandpa and Grandma's house playing and eating. Fun, for sure!
Gideon got a little garage with cars that we thought he would love the most, but the basketball hoop from Ethan and Natalie was the real hit. For two weeks after Christmas, every time he got up from a nap or in the morning he would be pointing downstairs yelling, "BALL, BALL." He loves it! Levi got a media player that holds music and movies, and he's been about the same as Gideon with the basketball hoop!
The best part of Christmas was remembering the Savior, and sharing the story with Gideon for the first time (we hope he'll pay more attention next year!). Enjoy the pictures!

Happy New Year Y'all!
This picture is from our visit to Vancouver for Thanksgiving- it was such a fun trip! In Levi's words, "It was the perfect vacation... I shot guns, played video games and rode motorcycles!" We also ate LOTS of yummy food (including homemade peanut brittle), shopped the Black Friday deals, harassed the cats (Gideon's favorite part of the trip), and played a few rousing games of Settlers of Catan. There are more pictures from the trip in our pictures link.
We will post some Christmas photos soon!

In the beginning

And here it begins. I waited all day for Levi to come home to help me think of a name and design for our new blog... and there he sleeps- a mere 3 yards away, and utterly useless in this endeavor. It appears as though I will be held completely responsible for the name and design of this blog... Oh well. He works so hard at home and school, how can we blame him for wanting to sleep at 11 pm? He left early for school, did his lab research and went to Salt Lake for classes, then came home and tried for nearly 45 minutes to cajole Gideon to sleep. He's a rock star Husband and Father, for sure!
